Went to Boston for a few days last week, where I had attended college at Boston Conservatory. As I rode the water taxi across the inner harbor to the hotel, I was struck by the wonderful view of the Boston skyline and downtown. It's a city of great contrasts...old and new side by side...brownstone row houses shadowed by modern skyscrapers...incredible historical neighborhoods and the biggest population of young people in the country. It felt like a homecoming, to a place in my memory that I hadn't seen for 30 years.
When I returned to San Jose, I happened to have a breakfast meeting downtown at the Capital Club the morning after my trip. The view of our downtown and surrounding city was stunning, and in its own way every bit as impressive as Boston. We are growing up, literally and figuratively!
Boston has baked beans and tea...but San Jose has Original Joe's!
