It's Time To Share

Okay, this post is aimed squarely at women over 50.

You know, there is an incredible amount of new, beautifully appointed high rise housing available downtown San Jose in safe and secure buildings that offer all the amenities we have come to expect in our homes.  My two favorites are The 88 and 360 Residences.

And living there puts you right in the middle of everything...walking distance to great restaurants, clubs, theater, music, festivals, concerts in the park, bicycle races, Opera San Jose, San Jose Rep, Ballet San Jose, HP Pavilion...well, you get the idea.

And many of the floorplans are ideal for two non-related people to live in...large bedrooms each with their own bathroom, plenty of entertainment space, great kitchens to cook in, spectacular views of the city.

But you're probably nervous about purchasing on your own, and you probably don't want to sink ALL your assets into a home, but you really don't want to continue to rent...and you may not know anyone who is actually able to purchase too that you wouldn't mind owning and living with, because you have to feel like you can be friends even though you may not know each other...or even if you do...it's really a challenge, isn't it?

The Grand Tour

Last weekend I toured 4 fabulous downtown living spaces:  City Heights, The 88, Axis, and Three Sixty Residences.  Each was unique, with its own "look and feel"...but whether it was "hip" or "upscale", there is no denying that San Jose has finally grown up...literally !!  The day was beautiful, everyone was out walking or sitting in sidewalk cafes, the water in the fountains sparkled, a young guitarist serenaded us from a bench in Paseo de San Antonio.  The faces I saw coming in and out of the high rise condos were full of interest, excitement, and pride in our city, and I had a glimpse of the future of San Jose...where all ages live and work in the downtown, enjoying a walk to work instead of the torture of sitting on the freeways, where art and culture thrive because we are all there to support it, where San Jose is really a green city because our public transportation has developed into a network of BART, light rail, bus, CalTrain, bicycle lanes, and pedestrian thoroughfares. 

Get downtown, people!!!!!

Northern and Southern Lights

Visiting my Dad in Vancouver, BC this week.  The city is filled with tall glass condominium buildings that reach for the sky like perfectly manicured fingers.  At night the lights dazzle on the water that surrounds the city.

Well, we in our city are just beginning our skyscraper stretch!  Our skyline has become so much more interesting, and our night life hums with the beat of music and feet on the pavement.  The light from new windows shines gently, illuminating the night outside and hinting at the many lives behind the shutters.  New life, new aspirations, a newly minted city springing up for all.

Many faces, many facets

There is nothing better on a hot day than splashing yourself silly in a fountain!  The sound of the water, the coolness of the drops, the little rainbows kicked up by tiny feet...take your children by the hand, get yourself down to Plaza de Cesar Chavez, and enjoy!
